The driving concept underlying the penthouse design emanates from the location, tropical environment, and unique qualities akin to one-off residential dwellings. Our studio carefully integrated these attributes along with the architectural craftmanship of the building into the interior design to arrive at what we call Depurative Luxury. The incorporation of natural materials, a balanced color palette, and harmonious flow constitute key aesthetic values that embody the design. The layout harnesses an abundance of light filtering into the expansive terraces highlighting generous outdoor amenities and a great potential for lush vegetation. The procession of space between rooms is tailored to flow between entertainment and daily use activities. The finish palette, while unpretentious, is accentuated with the use of exotic woods and stones.

Because AM Studio was retained to design the common areas as well as the penthouse an opportunity was realized to create continuity in the procession of space and to harmonize the best aspects of single-family living with the convenience of the condominium lifestyle. AM Studio sought to create a seamless transition from the common areas into and throughout the unit extending the private experience beyond the unit entry doors.
Layout & Utilization of Space
The layout of the home was conceived with flexibility and utilization of space in mind. The variety of entertainment and private functions are accommodated by allowing for separate entries. Visiting guests may be directed to the West elevator which opens to the family room, summer kitchen, and pool terrace, whereas dinner guests may utilize the Eastern elevator for direct access into the living and dining rooms. The old ‘Florida Room’ concept has been reimagined and integrated into the layout such that various rooms gain direct connections to exterior terraces with large glass doors that can enclose or enlarge the space. More intimate spaces are appointed with private terraces such as the master bedroom suite. The suite is of ample size and includes walk-in closets and changing rooms as well as a master bathroom which includes his and her water closets, a soaking tub, and a glass-enclosed steam shower. The master bathroom vanities frame an amazing view over Coral Gables. A home of this size wouldn’t be complete without utility rooms such as a butler’s pantry, office, large storage, and a laundry room.
